Charitable Trust staff was thrilled to learn last month about a mental health nonprofit who recently expanded their operations into Southern Maryland. Santé Behavioral Health is a 501c3 organization that has operated since 1991 in various Maryland and North Carolina locations. They operate Mobile Crisis Response Teams and 24-hour hotlines serving people experiencing a mental health crisis or traumatic situation. They are now an available resource in both Charles and St. Mary’s counties.
Tia Deloach, LCSW-C, is Deputy Director of Southern Maryland Crisis Response for Santé and was excited to share with our staff how they can now help citizens in Charles County. Santé operates a 24-hour hotline number that anyone can call for help. Their trained staff provide resources and support for those experiencing trauma, mental health or substance use crises. They also run a Mobile Crisis Team that can assist anywhere in the county Monday through Friday 8:00am to midnight. Mobile Crisis Teams consist of mental health counselors and clinicians trained in de-escalation and crisis interventions dealing with mental health, substance use, or other situational crises. Their staff can assist anyone, including children, adolescents, adults, seniors, couples, or families, and can respond to any location whether it be in the home, a public place, or unhoused individuals wherever they need to be met.
Now serving 15 counties across Maryland, Santé Behavioral Health looks to expand upon their local southern Maryland offerings in the future with additional staff for crisis intervention and eventually to expand their hours of availability in our region. They are also looking to connect with other nonprofits to spread awareness of their services and build partnerships to grow their impact.
